Protection is included as a special element in the Swedish Working Dog Club’s test.
Historically, the protection work has been created very much based on the police’s use of dogs.

The dog must always be under good obedience from the handler and may only act in special situations. These can be described as when the dog is sent by the handler after a fleeing person, when a person that the dog has been set to monitor tries to deviate and when the handler is exposed to a strong threat (attack) from a person.

The dog’s force in attack is assessed, cessation of attack at the command of the handler or when the person has stopped fleeing or attacking and attention during surveillance

The dog is tested both whit and whitout muzzle.
